At 4 Rivers Electric Cooperative, our goal is to provide reliable, affordable electricity to our members—while ensuring our rates fairly reflect the cost of delivering that service. Our tariffs are reviewed periodically to maintain transparency, regulatory compliance, and fairness across all rate classes.

Upcoming Rate Hearing:

Net Metering & Parallel Generation Riders

The 4 Rivers Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m., August 18, 2025, at our Fredonia office to consider proposed updates to two rider tariffs: the Net Metering Rider and the Parallel Generation Rider.

These changes are being proposed in response to recent updates to Kansas law (HB 2149) regarding distributed generation systems.

  • The adjustments to the tariff apply to new net metering and parallel generation systems going forward and will not affect existing systems approved on the current tariffs.
  • Changes include:
    • Adjusted system sizing formulas
    • New limits on the percentage of total cooperative generation
    • Updated compensation rates for excess energy (Parallel Generation)

To learn more about these updates, review the Official Rate Hearing Notice and read our general manager/CEO’s article in our member newsletter Currents in the August 2025 edition of Kansas Country Living.
